Journey Overview

Why Travel from Bali to Komodo?

Komodo National Park is one of the planet’s last truly wild frontiers — a UNESCO World Heritage Site spanning 1,733 square kilometers of pristine ocean, volcanic islands, and some of the richest marine biodiversity on Earth. While Bali offers culture and beaches, Komodo delivers something entirely different: face-to-face encounters with ancient Komodo dragons, world-class diving with manta rays, and landscapes that look like they belong on another planet. The journey from Bali to Komodo is shorter than most travelers expect. A quick 75-minute flight from Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) connects you to the gateway of Komodo National Park. From Labuan Bajo’s harbor, traditional phinisi sailing boats and modern speedboats carry you into a world of turquoise waters, volcanic peaks, and pink-sand beaches that few places on Earth can match.Whether you want to trek Padar Island’s iconic triple-bay viewpoint, snorkel at the famous Pink Beach, swim with manta rays at Manta Point, or watch Komodo dragons in their natural habitat on Rinca Island — every itinerary reveals why Komodo consistently ranks among the world’s top adventure destinations. And with the new 2026 SiOra visitor quota system limiting access to 1,000 visitors per day, early planning through a trusted local operator has never been more important.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get from Bali to Komodo Island?

There is no direct ferry or boat from Bali to Komodo. You need to fly from Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) — a 75-minute flight operated by AirAsia, Batik Air, Citilink, and Wings Air. From Labuan Bajo harbor, boats take 2–4 hours to reach Komodo National Park. We book flights and arrange all boat transfers as part of our tour packages.

When is the best time to visit Komodo from Bali?

The best time to visit Komodo is during the dry season from April to October, when seas are calm and visibility is excellent for diving and snorkeling. September and October offer the best balance of good weather and fewer crowds. The wet season (November–March) offers lower prices and greener landscapes but rougher seas.

How much does a Komodo trip from Bali cost?

Day trips start from $85/person, 3-day packages from $350/person, and luxury liveaboards from $500–$8,500/person. Flights from Bali to Labuan Bajo cost $80–$240 round trip. See our detailed Komodo Trip Cost guide for complete budget breakdowns across every travel style.

Is the SiOra booking system mandatory?

Yes. Since April 2026, all visitors must register through the SiOra digital platform at least 72 hours before entering Komodo National Park. The daily cap is 1,000 visitors split across three time sessions. We handle complete SiOra registration as part of every tour package, so you do not need to worry about the process.

How many days do I need for a Komodo trip?

A minimum of 3 days is recommended to see the major highlights — Komodo dragons, Padar Island, Pink Beach, and Manta Point. Day trips are possible but rushed. For a complete experience including diving and off-the-beaten-path destinations, consider our 5-day Bali-Komodo package or a 4-day liveaboard cruise.

Is Komodo Island safe for tourists?

Komodo National Park is very safe when visiting with licensed guides and registered tour operators. Komodo dragons are wild animals and maintained at a safe distance during guided treks. All our tours include certified park rangers, first-aid kits, and safety-briefed boat crews. Solo visits without a guide are not permitted inside the park.
